Thanksgiving and Shop for a cure

Happy Thanksgiving bloggers!

I hope each of you enjoy spending time with family, eating great food, and watching football (Gig Em Aggies!) this week. We have so much to be thankful for! The fam and I will be in Dallas this week spending time hanging out with my Dad's family (hi Tanners!).

Since the Christmas shopping madness begins this week, I wanted to let you guys know about a great way to give back while you are doing your holiday shopping.

By doing your Christmas shopping through Shop for Cancer Cures a portion of what you pay goes to fund groundbreaking cancer research, with some of the money going directly to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where of course I work in research! M.D. Anderson has the largest clinical research program in the country, and the discoveries that we continue to make here become the nation-wide standards for cancer care and prevention. There is no better cause!

The site offers hundreds and hundreds of retailers including my favorites (waving hi to Mom and Dad!) like Target, Ann Taylor Loft, Apple, Netflix, Vera Bradley, The Container Store, and Williams-Sonoma. Places like Borders even offer free shipping plus the donation - you can't beat that. It's stuff you were going to buy anyway, and the site is really easy to use. So this Christmas, even though I will be indulging myself, eating red meat, and not doing much exercise, I will still be doing my part to fight cancer, and I hope you will join me! Maybe this will inspire me to pick up a Weight Watchers membership which donates $6 to the cure! ...Maybe. : )

Love, S
